Johanson Dielectrics recently produced high voltage capacitors that feature a unique internal electrode design that decreases the concentration of voltage by way of distribution of voltage gradients within the whole capacitor.
This one-of-a-kind design also allows increased capacitance values in a specific case size and voltage rating. EIA 198 requirements are what the capacitors are designed and manufactured to and are also exposed to complete electrical testing which makes them ideal for a wide range of telecommunication, commercial and industrial applications.
General Specifications for these high voltage capacitors are:
- Case Sizes: 0805-2225
- Rated Voltage: 250-6000 VDC
- Dielectrics Type: NPO, X7R
- Capacitance Range: 10 pF-0.47 µF
Applications include:
- Analog & Digital Modems
- Lighting Ballast Circuits
- DC-DC Converters
- LAN/WAN Interface
- Voltage Multipliers
- Back-lighting Inverters
All standard parts that Johnason Dielectrics, Inc manufactured after January 1, 2006 are in full compliance withthe European Union Directive 2002/95/EC as well as the new EU Directive 2011/65/EC Restriction of Hazardous Substances often referred to as RoHS 2 as of January 2, 2013. Johanson Dielectrics also prides itself in meeting the requirements for REACH and none of their products contain any SVHC chemicals that are above the mandated levels by the ECHA.
All standard terminations of the SMT components also consist of 100% Tin plating in a matte finish over Nickel. These types of components have the ability of a 260 degree Celsius maximum reflow temperature for as long as five seconds and compatible with the majority of standard lead-free solder processes.
As requested by the industry as well as customers, Johanson Dielectrics manufactures are very small amount of product featuring Tin-Led (Sn-Pb) Terminations. This product is non-RoHS compliant because of the PB constituent in the termination that is mandatory in specific specialty applications, such as Military and Space.
A Johanson part number suffix of “-****-RC” was established to help customers recognize compliant and non-compliant inventory during the transitory process to RoHS compliance. Though the “RC” suffix is now nullified in order to ensure compliance and should not be used for present and future designs, the JDI will remain supportive of these part numbers for customers who have these part numbers on AVLs/BOM’s.
